Bite System

SOURCE STATEMENT

The Open Hearts Art Center offers community members living with physical, emotional, and psychological disabilities a way to reach their full potential through creative expression. Open Hearts Art Center offers students many forms of artistic expression, such as music, drama, dance, creative writing, ceramics, and painting in the beautiful mountain community of Asheville, NC.

PART A:

(1.) WHAT IS ITS NATURE?

Open - Not closed, accessible, free, accepting, without restrictions, available, to grant access, to come into view, to become receptive to knowledge, to disclose or reveal one's knowledge, to unfold or expand, as a blossom, so as to reveal the what's inside.
Hearts - Organ, lifeblood, life, the center of the total personality, esp. with reference to intuition, feeling, or emotion, the center of emotion, capacity for sympathy, feeling, or affection; spirit, courage, enthusiasm; the innermost or central part of anything, the vital or essential part.
Arts - Creativity, expression, beauty, what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.
Center - Central, a central point, pivot, axis, etc., the source of an influence; a principal point, place, or object; the core or middle of anything.
Offers - To give, to present, to propose or volunteer, to give, make, or promise, to put forth; to exert.
Community - Group of people, connected, a social group, people who share with each other, society.
Members - a person or group that is part of a society, party, community, etc.
Living - having life; being alive; not dead; in actual existence; active or thriving; vigorous; flowing freely; lifelike; true to life; very; absolute.
Physical - Tangible, of or pertaining to the body, of or pertaining to that which is material.
Emotional - Pertaining to or involving emotion, feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love, etc.

Psychological - Of, pertaining to, dealing with, or affecting the mind, esp. as a function of awareness, feeling, or motivation.
Disabilities - Lack of adequate power, strength, or physical or mental ability; incapacity; a physical or mental handicap, esp. one that prevents a person from living a full, normal life or from holding a gainful job; anything that disables or puts one at a disadvantage.
Way - a method, plan, or means for attaining a goal.
Reach - to succeed in, to stretch or hold out, to amount to, to come to or arrive at in some course of progress or action.
Full - completely filled; containing all that can be held; filled to utmost capacity; complete; entire; maximum.
Potential - capable of being or becoming, possibility.
Creative - having the quality or power of creating, originality, expression.
Expression - the act of expressing or setting forth in words or art.
Students - a person engaged in learning
Music - musical work or compositions for singing or playing, any sweet, pleasing, or harmonious sounds or sound.
Drama - the art dealing with the writing and production of plays, (also what teenage girls like to create)
Dance - to move one's feet or body, or both, rhythmically in a pattern of steps.
Writing - literary or musical style, form, quality, technique, written form.
Ceramics - the art or technology of making objects of clay and similar materials treated by firing.
Painting - a picture or design executed in paints.
Asheville - a beautiful city nested in the Blue Ridge Mountains, artsy, health conscious, eco-friendly, community, funky, good vibes, atmosphere.


(2.) WHAT IS ITS SOURCE?


Open - By an action of a person, i.e. opening, by opening your mind, by opening doors.
Hearts - Born with it, given to others, created inside yourself.
Arts - Created by artists, product of personal expression.
Center - Created by people with a common goal.
Offers - By people making the choice to give, to be selfless, to volunteer; generosity, needs, wants.
Community - created by commonalities, fondness for each other, close proximity.
Members - When a person joins a community or group, they become a member.

Living - Born that way (hopefully), attempting to keep it up, trying to live a full life.
Physical - Matter... in... different forms? o-o
Emotional - Created within oneself. 
Psychological - Created within ones mind.
Disabilities - Created by misfirings, scrambled genes, accident, or other outside factors.
Way - Created by hard work... or luck.
Reach - Created by hard work... or luck.
Full - Created by reaching a goal, a capacity, caused by action.
Creative - Created by imagination, mind, body, spirit.

Expression - Created by people; imagination, mind, body, spirit.

Students - Created by people, by enrolling, by teaching.
Music - Created by people, artists, composers; as means of creative expression.
Drama - An action or creation, programs, groups, classes.

Dance - An action or creation, programs, groups, classes.
Writing - Created by people/artists by means of creative expression, read in books, found everywhere.
Ceramics -Created by people/artists by means of creative expression, technique, classes.
Painting - Created by people/artists by means of creative expression, studio, classes.
Asheville - Created by...settlers and mountain-men? o-o


(3.) HOW IS IT DELIVERED?


Open - By an action of a person, i.e. opening, by opening your mind, by opening doors.
Hearts - Born with it, given to others, created inside yourself.
Arts - By artists, community members, teachers.
Center - By people willing to coordinate and keep it alive.
Offers - By people making the choice to give, to be selfless, to volunteer; generosity, needs, wants. Through checks, volunteering, assignments, needs, proposals.
Community - People, cities, towns, areas.
Members - Status given by others in the group or community.

Living - By G-d.
Physical - Ditto.
Emotional - By people, expressions.
Psychological - Through people and their minds.
Way - by hard work... or luck.
Reach - by hard work... or luck.
Creative - by a muse? by people, emotions, minds, bodies, spirits, souls.

Expression - Through various means: all forms of art, writing, music, etc.

Students - Through classes and workshops.
Music - Through the air, through pleasing sounds, through people.
Drama - Through performance and practice.

Dance - Through performance and practice.
Writing - By people, through creative expression,
Ceramics - By people/artists by means of creative expression, technique, classes.
Painting - By people/artists by means of creative expression, studio, classes.

(4.) WHAT IS ITS SIZE?


Open - Limitless.
Hearts - Physical: about 6 inches tall. Emotional: limitless.
Arts -Small of large scale, and everything in between.
Center - Depends on the size of the group it serves.

Offers - Depends on the generosity of the individual offering, large, small, and everything in between.
Community - Can be large or small scale.
Members - Average height. Maybe a few short people.

Living - Around 75-85 years? ^_^
Physical - Depends on the amount of matter in each physical thing; can be large, small, and everything in between.
Emotional - Emotions aren't tethered by physical constraints; don't have "size." Boundless.
Psychological - Doesn't have a "size," boundless.
Creative - Doesn't have a size, boundless.

Expression - can be large, small, and everything in between.
Students - Average people-sized.
Music - Doesn't have a size, boundless. Lengths can vary, large, small, everything in between.
Drama - Depends on the number of people participating, can be large, small, and everything inbetween. Length also varies.

Dance - Depends on the number of people participating, can be large, small, and everything inbetween. Length also varies.

Writing - Varies. Can be anything, really. Can be large, small, and everything in between. Length also varies.

Ceramics - Can be large scale, small scale, or anything in between.
Painting - Can be large scale, small scale, or anything in between. Possibilities are endless.
Asheville - Largest city in Western North Carolina, population 76,636 (in Asheville proper) and 408,436 if including the surrounding unincorporated area.

(5.) WHAT IS ITS WEIGHT?

Open - Weightless, boundless.
Hearts - 10-12 ounces for a male and 8-10 ounces for a female. Emotionally, very great.
Arts - Light or heavy depending on the piece and material.
Center - ...probably pretty heavy. Center, in a metaphysical sense, has a heavy weight to it...very important.
Community - Depends how many people are in it.
Members - Depends what the aforementioned people have been eating.

Living - Utmost weight and importance.
Physical - Can be heavy or light, depending on the material and amount of it.
Emotional - Can be heavy or light, depending on the emotion.

Psychological - Can be heavy or light, depending on the psychological concern. Oftentimes heavy.
Disabilities - Emotionally heavy.
Full - Heavier than when empty.
Potential - Of great weight and importance.

Creative - Physical weight depends on what was created, non-physical weight is very great.

Expression - Physical weight depends on what was created, non-physical weight is very great.
Students - Depends how much bacon said students have been eating.
Music - Depends on the style of music, can be very light or heavy.
Drama - Depends on the subject matter, can be very light or heavy.

Dance - Depends on the style of dance and story involved, can be very light or heavy.
Writing - Depends on the subject matter, can be very light or heavy.
Ceramics - Depends on the size of the pieces, but typically heavy.
Painting - Depends on the size of the painting, weight varies.
Asheville - ... really, really heavy.


(6.) WHY WAS IT GIVEN?


Open - Because of a want or need.
Hearts - Out of need, ask G-d. People give others their hearts out of love, devotion, caring, and other emotions.
Arts - to be creative, to encourage others, because of inspiration or imagination, just for fun.
Center - To give community member a central location, out of need.
Offers - Out of the goodness of others' hearts.
Community -Because of need, interests, commonalities, locale.
Members - Because they needed to be a part, because they would benefit from.
Living - 42. Philosophically, no one really knows.
Physical - Because matter takes form. Kinda has to. Or else it isn't tangible. 
Emotional - So we could feel, express, love...

Psychological - So we could think, compute, decide, function...
Disabilities - ... I don't really know. ...
Way - Because everyone needs to find their way, out of need and want.
Full - To help others, out of need and want.
Potential - To help others and yourself, out of need and want.
Creative - To be able to express yourself and your emotions, thoughts, and feelings.
Expression - Given because if we were not able to express ourselves, this world would be a crazy sad and lonely place.

Students - To teach skills, knowledge, and traditions to a new generation. Out of want, need, and desire to learn.
Music - Given as a form of artistic, creative, and personal expression. Out of want and need.
Drama - Given as a form of entertainment, personal expression, and vocation.

Dance - Given as a form of entertainment, personal and creative expression, and vocation.
Writing - Given as a form of entertainment, personal and creative expression, and vocation.
Ceramics - Given as a form of artistic and personal expression, but also used for utilitarian purposes.
Painting - Given as a form of artistic and personal expression, also to create works to be used for entertainment, beauty, and decoration.
Asheville -...people gotta live somewhere.
